What Play Frontier is All About
Play Frontier is a nonprofit corporation whose purpose is to provide a nature playschool providing childcare for children under the age of six, enrichment classes for youth and adult education programming focused on parenting, teaching and child development. Our mission statement is “Conserving childhood in Skamania County through acceptance, education and empowerment of children and families”.
What Are Board Member Obligations?
The Board of Directors is the governing body and is responsible for managing the affairs of Play Frontier. They also determine policies and are responsible for ensuring that its program remains faithful to its mission. Board officers are President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.
Duties of the board include: communicating Play Frontier’s work and values to the community and representing Play Frontier when requested; having good attendance at board and committee meetings; being a member of at least one committee; making an effort to attend special events; volunteering services, skills and time to Play Frontier; giving a financial contribution to the Annual Fund, thus making Play Frontier a priority in their philanthropy.
Currently, the Board of Directors meets once a month virtually. Normally, electronic meeting attendance is often used. Additionally, committees meet once a month, occasionally more than that, depending on upcoming events and school needs. Most board members are on more than one committee.
We ask that all board members log their volunteer hours online.
